7 Automations in 4 Months at a Gold Coast Manufacturer
Table of Contents
TL;DR: In 4 months at Banks Benchtops I built 7 things across accounts, payroll, the factory and customer sales. I first map existing processes and then streamline and automate it. I’m looking for my next role doing exactly that.
From June to September 2026 I worked as the Apps & AI Automation Implementer at Banks Benchtops in Arundel, Gold Coast. It’s a fast-paced manufacturing business, and priorities shifted often. I partnered with accounts and ops and moved from discovery to working solutions.
What I built #
- Sales Dashboard: delivered end to end in about 2.5 hours for faster visibility over sales data.
- Debt collection automation: co-built a Make.com to Power Automate flow that pulls overdue Xero invoices, merges them into a Word template and emails clients. Recovered $250,000 in overdue invoices within 14 days.
- Payroll process automation (3 branches): Claude Cowork Skills that cut tedious weekly payroll prep. About 40 minutes saved per branch per week, about 2 hours combined. I also built a Skill that catches Power Automate error emails, diagnoses missing data and emails the branch accountant so issues get fixed immediately.
- Xero bank reconciliation automation: an AI-assisted matching workflow that investigates transactions across Xero contacts, HubSpot and related job/invoice data to propose reconciliations and reduce manual matching.
- Consumables Tracker: an internal desktop and mobile app for factory inventory. Track stock, manage levels and support ordering.
- Customer Stone Visualiser: a web form (desktop, or mobile via QR) where customers upload a kitchen photo, choose surfaces to restyle with a selected stone, and get a render in about 30 seconds to view and download.
- Reporting dashboards: learned Google Data Studio fast to chart Google Sheets and HubSpot data.
Where I do my best work #
My favourites were the Sales Dashboard, Payroll Process, Xero Bank Reconciliations and Consumables Tracker. Each time I had full autonomy, hard data and time to sit with staff and document the existing process before automating it.
I re-engineer messy business processes into AI-driven systems that scale and run themselves. If you can train a human to do it, I can train AI to do it too.
Got a process that’s slow, repetitive or just plain annoying? Let’s chat over coffee.
